KPK Detains the Mayor of Manado

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) finally detained Mayor of Manado, Jimmy Rimba Rogi after two weeks of intensive investigations. Jimmy was detained after being named as a suspect in a case of suspected corruption involving the Medan Regional 2006 Budget with resultant state losses totaling Rp 40 billion.

Jimmy made no comment as he was escorted to the Central Jakarta Police Detention Center. During the interrogations, Jimmy was accompanied by his legal advisor, Humprey Djemaat.

According to KPK Spokesman, Johan Budi SP, a number of corruption allegations involving the Government of Manado have been investigated by KPK. These involve the misuse of the budget and a number of fictional projects. “The suspect is also suspected of profiting directly,” said Johan. The KPK investigation team have already searched Jimmy's office in the Bumi Beringin area, Manado in relation to this case.
